Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in La Plata, Maryland. This role involves providing specialized care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods. The RN will support a community hospital setting, working within a dedicated Mother-Baby unit to ensure safe and effective obstetric care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Active Maryland RN license or compact license; BLS, ACLS, NCC C-EFM certifications in hand at time of submission; 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery; 1 year of general RN experience; experience with patient ratios of 2 in nights and weekends; experience with charting systems preferred (Epic)
• Additional Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience preferred; familiarity with obstetric procedures including vaginal deliveries, C-section support, and neonatal assessments; comfort with floating within all areas of the L&D and Mother-Baby departments
• Patient Population: Neonates, adolescents, adults, pediatrics, geriatrics
• Special Procedures/Unit Details: Support for Level I Nursery, assist with sterile speculum exams, postpartum care, neonatal resuscitation, and use of fetal monitoring equipment. The department cares for approximately 50-60 deliveries per month and requires staff trained to NCC C-EFM certification and STABLE course.
• RTO: All RTO must be requested upfront; maximum 7 days, with consideration for major holidays if within schedule constraints
• Additional Notes: Flexibility to float within all areas of the delivery and post-partum units is required. The facility operates a 4-bed LDR, 1 OR, 2 Triage/Ante Labor and Delivery units, and a 12-bed Well Baby Nursery.
• Compliance: Labs to be completed within 72 hours of signing the contract; documentation due 5 days prior to start date.
