Description:
The patient population includes females of childbearing years.
Patients may be pregnant at 17 weeks gestation, laboring, or scheduled for procedures.
Common procedures include C-sections, external cephalic versions, and cerclage.
Triage issues are also addressed on the unit.
Activities on the unit include admissions, discharges, transfers, pre-op, and deliveries.
Both vaginal and cesarean deliveries are performed.
Common equipment used in Labor and Delivery includes fetal monitors, Cerner, and Fetalink for documentation.
