Description:
Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite, day one.
This is a PASS/FAIL test.
Unit has 19 post-partum beds, 12 labor and delivery beds, 2 operating rooms, and 1 post-anesthesia care unit.
The nurse-to-patient ratios follow specific guidelines.
Electronic medical records are managed using Cerner and Fetal Link for surveillance.
The charge nurse is a clinical supervisor 6 out of 7 days, with a staff team lead.
A nurse manager is available Monday to Friday.
No nurse aides are present; OB techs scrub and cover the desk.
Weekend requirements include 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
Holidays are worked in accordance with the permanent staff holiday rotation.
Scrub colors are provided by the facility.
Telemetry is not utilized; Phillips is used for fetal heart monitor systems.
Ventilators are not used; a laborist (OB doctor) is in-house 24/7.
An IV team is not available.
Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.
Shifts are from 6:45 to 7:15 for both days and nights.
Floating may occur to pediatrics, taking patients similar to those in post-partum.
In NICU, only feeders and growers will be taken if experience is present.
Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 to 3 shifts based on circulation experience.
Common diagnoses include transfer out for babies with known congenital defects requiring immediate surgery.
The unit handles both low and high-risk deliveries, with access to a Level III NICU.
Peak times for patient volume occur in July and October.
The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
Charting is performed using Cerner.
A BSN is not required.
A trauma level of 2 is designated.
The care setting is acute.
The division is nursing.
Nights, every other weekend, and first to float are the specific shift requirements.
