Job Summary:
Long Term Care Registered Nurse (RN) position in Seward, Alaska. This role involves providing patient care in a skilled nursing environment with a focus on dementia, Alzheimer's, and other LTC diagnoses. The assignment offers flexible scheduling with rotating shifts, accommodating weekend and holiday work as needed.
Job Details:
- Shift: Rotating, 12-hour shifts, with guaranteed hours of 48 per week.
- Schedule: Variable shifts, primarily days or nights, with the choice of 4x12 or 3x12 schedule.
- Required Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), Alaska state license in hand, minimum of 1 year of LTC experience, 20 patient ratio experience, valid certification and training in charting systems.
- Additional Qualifications: Previous LTC experience required; experience with accuchecks, implanted glucose sensors, Peg tube feedings, Duopa pumps, IV hydration, phlebotomy, peritoneal dialysis, respiratory treatments, and wound care preferred.
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics, primarily patients with dementia, Alzheimer's, TBIP, plegics, cognitive and physical impairments.
- Patient Census: 40 per day.
- Unit Details: Supports interdisciplinary care including social services, with hospital-level support.
- Certifications: BLS required; Alaska Food Worker Certification obtained during orientation (one-time $10 fee).
- On-Call / Float: Willing to float within scope; no on-call required.
- Travel Requirements: Must have travel experience; candidates must be willing to work major winter holidays.
- Additional Considerations: Candidates must meet RTO restrictionsno more than 1 week for 13-week contracts, no more than 2 weeks for 26-week contracts.
- Vehicle: Facility arranges vehicle; must provide valid drivers license and proof of insurance. Vehicle use is limited to town within 30 miles.
