Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Telemetry - $1,745 per week in Winston Salem, NC

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year required; travel experience preferred License: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Certifications: Required Must-Have: Telemetry cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with PCA, surgical drains, wound care Comfortable with learning Cardizem/Amiodarone gtt Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the MedSurg/Tele specialty. This position involves caring for patients with general medical issues and some cardiac conditions. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, and fluid overload. The patient ratio is 1 RN to 4 patients and 1 CNA to 8 patients. Support is provided by CNAs who assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, hourly safety rounds, and activities of daily living. Charge nurses float and may have full assignments occasionally. Phlebotomy is performed with peripheral blood draws. RNs will start their own IVs, as there is no IV/VAT team. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, and assistance can be paged when needed. Clientists and intensivists are present around the clock. Telemetry monitoring is available, and RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting the telemetry strips during their shifts. The unit uses EMR technology and specific equipment such as PCAs and advanced wound care tools. The culture of the unit is friendly and supportive within an academic medical environment.
