The facility has 885 licensed beds and is recognized for its Trauma Designation. It serves as a teaching hospital and is equipped with specialized centers for chest pain and stroke. The unit consists of 10 beds with an average census of 8 patients. Patient types and common diagnoses include renal/pancreatic transplant donors and recipients, gynecological oncology, surgical oncology, urology, colorectal surgery, and bariatric/minimally invasive surgery. Typical patient ratios are RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 with 1 CNA per 10 patients. CNA assists nursing staff by providing direct and indirect patient care, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures and ambulation. The unit has designated support roles including receptionists and charge nurses available during the day shift. RNs are responsible for managing various medical procedures including trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, PCA management, surgical drains, wound care, and specific medication drips.
