The position involves managing a variety of medical-surgical patients. Common diagnoses include diabetes management, respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, neurological surgeries, and trauma surgeries. Candidates must be comfortable managing cardiac and CT surgery patients. The typical patient ratio is 1 RN to 5 patients. Support staff includes CNAs who assist with vital signs and daily living activities. Responsibilities also involve interpreting cardiac strips at the bedside. Access to respiratory therapists and hospitalists is available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring will be performed by the RN. Familiarity with EMR and IV pumps is required.
