Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; CPI can be obtained on site for specific units Must-Have: - Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care - Strong interpersonal communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively - Solid written and oral communication skills - Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels - Experience reading telemetry strips - Comfortability in multiple patient care areas as needed Description: RN - MedSurg/Tele position available. Must have experience with general medicine, including diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory ailments, renal care, wound care, and dressing changes. Familiarity with behavioral health diagnoses, including dementia, memory care, developmental delays, and suicidal ideation is required for some patients. Patient ratios are 1:6 in general medicine and 1:5 in behavioral health units. Support staff includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, and a charge nurse who may or may not be present during shifts. Phlebotomy services are provided by a separate team. Rapid response, hospitalist, and intensivist services are available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is centralized. The RN is responsible for managing various medical interventions, including chest tubes, tracheostomies, PIV starts, and PCA pumps. Knowledge in medication management of specific drugs like amiodarone, fentanyl, ketamine, dilaudid, and heparin is required. The unit culture emphasizes patient-centered care and strong teamwork.
