Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM); 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required; block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday)
Highlights:
Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with post-surgical patient population requiring advanced pain management expertise
Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, with occasional flex to 7:1 in extreme circumstances
Epic EMR system in use; Epic experience required for first-time travelers
13-week contract or longer available
Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Up to 7 days requested time off auto-approved (excluding holidays and first week)
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
Orthopedic experience required
Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
ACLS certification preferred
Epic EMR experience required (especially for first-time travelers)
IV start and telemetry skills required
Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
Willingness to float to other medical-surgical units within the facility as needed
Customer service-oriented approach to patient care
Patient Population:
Orthopedic patients including total joint replacements and trauma cases
Neuro spine and pre/post neurosurgery patients
Medical-surgical and post-surgical patients
Average daily census of 37 patients across 39 beds
