Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical Neuro Telemetry Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required; patient ratio 1:6
Highlights:
- Primary neuroscience unit specializing in stroke patients, epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, subdural hematomas, and various neuro diagnoses
- Contract lengths up to 20+ weeks with a hard stop date of February 27, 2027
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR documentation
- 55-bed unit with daily census around 50 patients; includes specialized 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
- 36-hour comprehensive orientation provided; navy scrubs required
- Floating required to other Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units as needed; ability to work through the holiday season
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of direct Medical-Surgical experience (required)
- Prior travel nursing experience required – facility will not accept first-time travelers; must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
- Certifications: BLS/BCLS (required), NIH Stroke Scale/NIHSS (required), ACLS (preferred)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency with Epic charting system required
- Strong telemetry skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Competencies in IV starts, blood product administration, central line care, cardiac and vasoactive drip management
- Experience with neuroscience patient populations including CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

- Preferred scheduling model with flexibility between 36 or 48-hour work weeks

- Make-up shifts required for any call-offs during the same week or at contract end
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at adjusted rate
- Pre-start online modules (approximately 8-10 hours) required and completed on candidate's own time
- All lab testing must be completed within 48 hours after contract signing
