The patient population may include individuals with general medicine diagnoses such as diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory conditions, renal problems, and wounds. Duties may involve monitoring and managing telemetry patients, including reading telemetry strips. Skills required include administering medications through PCA pumps and managing various IV medications. The potential for supporting advanced care includes working with hospitalist and intensivist teams as needed. Team collaboration and strong communication skills are emphasized, ensuring optimal patient-centered care. Staffing ratios are typically 5-6 patients per RN, with support from CNAs.
