Description:
This position requires a candidate who is willing to join an emergency team if needed.
Upon accepting an assignment, the candidate may be required to stay at the facility during emergencies.
Specific pay details for emergency events will be communicated as needed.
Candidates should be comfortable with these requirements before applying.
Holiday availability is required for two out of four designated holiday periods annually.
Designated holidays include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
Although Halloween is not a paid holiday, coverage may be required.
Holiday assignments will be based on departmental needs and staff rotation.
Patient diagnoses include chest pain, coronary artery disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, exacerbated COPD, confirmed COVID-19, transient ischemic attack, stroke, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, bradycardia, tachycardia, and rhythm management with cardiac drips not titrated for blood pressure.
Special procedures performed in this unit include pre- and post-angiogram/angioplasty, Pacific pacemaker insertions, LINQ recorder insertion, general surgical procedures, EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement, chest tube insertions, central line catheter insertions, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
Equipment utilized includes telemetry monitoring systems, chest tubes, and wound vacs.
The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretarial staff.
Daily patient census is approximately 24, with a patient ratio of 6:1 on nights and weekends.
