Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License must be in hand Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Med/Surg Telemetry skillset, including: - Head to toe assessment - Orthopedic care knowledge - IV medication administration, including management of Lasix drip, heparin drip, IVP metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin IV or subQ - Wound care, including drain management and VACs - NGT/G tube care and parenteral nutrition - Central line management for PICC/HD catheter/midlines - Foley/nephrostomy/suprapubic catheter care - Ostomy care - Postoperative patient care Description: The unit has 48 beds with an average census of 27. Patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 during the night. There is 1 unit secretary on duty from 7 AM to 11 PM. Patient care technicians are present with a 1:10-15 ratio. The unit utilizes a variety of equipment, including Hoyer lifts, automated blood pressure machines, bladder scanners, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finders. Documentation is managed through the Altera/Allscripts Sunrise system. Scheduling requires every other weekend availability with a preference for 12-hour shifts. Staff may float to similar medical-surgical telemetry units. Daily participation in multidisciplinary rounds is expected on weekdays from 10:30 to 11:15 AM. The team promotes excellence in patient care. The unit's environment includes a fantastic team atmosphere and established monthly meetings for continuous improvement. Newly introduced blood pressure machines enhance patient care capabilities. The unit enjoys great employee retention rates.
