Job Title: Med Surg/Tele RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Infusion/Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hours Hours per Shift: 0700-1930 and 1100 to 2330 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Acute care experience with comfort in managing complex patients - Experience with intravenous drips - Ability to titrate drips as needed Description: This position is for a Med Surg/Tele RN specializing in Infusion/Oncology. The unit provides care for patients with various diagnoses, including oncology/hematology, general medical issues, GI bleeds, pulmonary embolisms, deep vein thrombosis, sepsis, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 during the day/evening and 1:6 overnight, with adjustments possible if short-staffed. Nurses will utilize internal staff to meet treatment needs. Candidates should be prepared to manage and titrate several types of intravenous drips, including insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and octreotide, as well as administer blood transfusions. There will be centralized monitoring for telemetry, with the expectation that nurses remain tele-aware. Charge nurses and house supervisors will be available on all shifts. Nurse aides will be present on the unit to assist with patient care. Respiratory therapists will oversee multiple units and be available on-site 24/7. Scheduling will be determined by the assigned scheduler, with efforts made to accommodate requests, but block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Weekend work every other week and holiday availability will be required. There is no on-call or standby requirement. Nurses may float within medical-surgical units as needed, with floating typically done in four-hour increments. Currently, any color scrubs are acceptable, but they should not have logos from other health systems. All clinicians must clock in and out while on-site.
