Description:
The unit participates in an AUTO OFFER process for interviews.
The unit has a total of 29 beds.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:6 at night.
Common diagnoses include abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical conditions.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, including heparin and occasionally insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin.
Telemetry/monitor techs are available on the unit, and RNs are not required to read telemetry strips.
Techs monitor and notify the nurse of any concerns, recording the patient's rhythms in the EHR.
There is a monitor on the unit for RNs to view their patients' rhythms.
Charge nurses take a smaller assignment and agency staff are not required to work in charge roles.
There are nurse aides on the unit with ratios of 1:8 during the day and 1:14 at night.
Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, vapotherm, and occasional tracheostomy care, but no vents are used.
Shifts and scheduling are not guaranteed to be block scheduling, but efforts are made for block schedules, especially for night shifts.
Weekend requirements are every other weekend.
Holiday requirements are every other holiday.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Staff may float on a rotation to other medical/surgical units if the unit is overstaffed.
Scrubs of any color are permitted.
All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
