Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Telemetry - $2,515 per week in Winston Salem, NC

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years with 1 year of direct Medical-Surgical experience License: NC or Compact license pending OK for submittal Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS, ACLS (preferred, not required) Must-Have: Must have a total of 2 years of experience, including 1 year of Medical-Surgical and 1 year of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry. Candidates with less than 1 year of past Medical-Surgical experience will not be accepted. Travelers are required to work every other weekend. Referencing successful experience as a traveler is necessary; first-time travelers will not be accepted. Description: The unit primarily cares for stroke patients. Neurosurgery patients and other neuro diagnoses, such as epilepsy and subdural hematomas, are also treated. We have a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) for specialized care. The unit typically operates with a daily census of around 50 patients. Patient ratios are generally 1:6. Floating is required to other Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units, including potential COVID care units. If a traveler calls in for a scheduled weekend shift, they will need to make up those shifts based on unit needs. Regular floating may be necessary due to staffing requirements. The unit utilizes systems such as Pyxis and Epic for medication administration and electronic charting. It is essential for candidates to pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. Travelers must be flexible regarding their shift schedules and may be required to work additional shifts as needed. All requests for time off must be pre-approved and cannot exceed 7 days.
