Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry Duration: 13-26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience. License: Current nursing license required. Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS. ACLS preferred, but not required. Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of nursing experience. - 1 year of Med/Surg experience specifically. - Experience with telemetry and the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. - Must have a history of at least 2 successful traveler assignments. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed. No RTO can be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit may lead to cancellation and DNR. Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units may be required, including COVID care areas. Travelers must be willing to work every other weekend. If RTO includes weekends, time will be added to the end of the contract to compensate for those dates. Unit patient population primarily consists of stroke patients, along with potential neurosurgery and other neuro diagnoses. Common conditions include epilepsy, subdural hematomas, and traumatic brain injuries. The unit includes a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). Daily census averages around 50 patients. The unit utilizes PYXIS and EPIC for electronic charting. Travelers must make up shifts if they call out on weekends during their scheduled shifts. All staff must fulfill floating requirements as necessary. Manager does not accept less than 1 year of prior Med/Surg experience due to unit ratios. Combination of 1 year of Med/Surg and 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience is mandatory. Major holidays require work on 2 out of 3 scheduled holidays each year. All RTO must be pre-approved, and no additional RTO can be requested after signing.
