Provide direct patient care on a Medical Telemetry unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, CAD, COPD exacerbation, stroke/TIA, GI bleed, atrial fibrillation, and cardiac dysrhythmias
Monitor and manage patients on cardiac drips; interpret and respond to telemetry rhythms and dysrhythmias
Support pre- and post-procedural care for angiogram and angioplasty patients (no sheath pulls); assist with care surrounding PPM/AICD, LINQ recorder, EGD, colonoscopy, and general surgical procedures
Manage specialized equipment including telemetry monitoring systems, chest tubes, and wound vacs
Participate in holiday coverage rotation — candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
In the event of an emergency, staff may be assigned to an emergency response team and expected to remain at the facility or serve on a relief team until the event has passed; pay details will be communicated on a per-event basis
Required Qualifications
Active RN license — Compact or Louisiana license required to be in hand at time of submittal
BLS certification (AHA required)
Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in the specialty
Telemetry experience with demonstrated ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as measured from the address on file with the driver's license) to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
ACLS certification
NIH Stroke Scale certification
Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are also welcome to apply)
