Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, CAD, arrhythmias, CHF, COPD exacerbation, MI, renal failure, PE, GI bleed, and related conditions
Perform and manage telemetry monitoring, interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin) and perform sheath pulling at bedside
Provide pre- and post-procedural care for cardiac catheterization, angiogram, MI, PPM/AICD, ablations, and vascular surgeries
Manage specialized equipment including chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, wound vacs, and telemetry monitoring devices
May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, with expectations to remain at or return to the facility as directed by unit management
Required Qualifications
Active RN license — Compact or Louisiana license must be in hand at time of submittal
BLS certification (AHA) required
Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical/Telemetry specialty
Demonstrated competency in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, central/peripheral/PICC line care, blood product administration, port accessing, IV insertion, wound care, and isolation precautions
NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as reflected on driver's license) to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted
Candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with CABG post-operative care
Familiarity with vascular surgery care including CEAs and fem-pop procedures
Comfort with potential reassignment to other inpatient units as needed based on census
