Travel Nurse RN - Medical Intensive Care Unit - $2,765 per week in Houston, TX

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Current experience in a high acuity ICU Description: Expectations include floating between assignments. Documentation of CLABSi, HAPI, and CAUTI is required. Flexibility in changing assignments based on acuity is necessary. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1 with defined patient conditions. The unit handles high acuity and is very busy. Candidates should be open to floating. Self-scheduling is not permitted. Every other weekend is required. Experience with EPIC is mandatory. Experience with CRRT is preferred. Successful candidates typically have 3+ years of experience. Previous travel experience is beneficial. Working in a busy hospital environment is highly valued. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, end-stage liver disease, and renal failure. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include Levo, Epi, Dopa, along with sedation drugs like Propofol and Dilaudid. There is a charge nurse on every shift, but they may not always be without an assignment. House supervisors are present 24/7. Patient care assistants are available on the unit. Critical care and other services staff the unit 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available around the clock. Equipment includes Hamilton Vent, BiPap, and various intravenous pumps. Nurses are required to monitor and interpret their own rhythms. The unit operates on a 6-week scheduling block managed by a scheduler. Holidays are required. There is no call or standby requirement. Scrub color for the unit is navy blue.
