Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 20-26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year minimum required License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Strong medical-surgical background - Willingness to float within the facility Description: The Registered Nurse will work in a medical surgical unit focused on burn reconstruction. The typical patient population includes adult patients with burns, plastic surgeries, and pediatric trauma and burn cases. The average daily census is approximately 22 patients, and the nurse-to-patient ratios are 3-4:1 during the day and 4-5:1 at night. Candidates should have experience managing diverse patient needs, with pediatric experience preferred but not required. The unit offers specialized procedures, including anesthesia-assisted wound care, utilizing nitrous for pain management. Registered Nurses will collaborate with a wound care RN for assistance in treating patients. Daily responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing comprehensive patient care. The unit employs various interdisciplinary support teams to assist with patient care, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Nurses are expected to possess skills in managing central lines, blood products, and IV therapy. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality nursing care in a challenging environment.
