Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) – Full TimeShift Details
3x12-hour shifts, day/night variable (scheduled as needed)
Every other weekend (EOW)
Holiday rotation required
2 on-call shifts per 4-week period
36 hours per week
Contract end date must fall in February or March — no exceptions
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families
Assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode
Develops specialized skill in the care of patients admitted for medical conditions
Provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions
Accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing
Expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment
Required Licenses & Certifications
NYS RN Licensure (required)
BLS – American Heart Association (AHA) or RQI only
ACLS – American Heart Association (AHA) or RQI only
NIHSS certification
Required Experience
Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical experience as a Registered Nurse

Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self-care process
Provides tools and information to assist the patient's family after discharge
Documents education provided and the patient and family response to that education

Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
Uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and care delivery
Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas where professional development would be beneficial
