Job Title: Registered Nurse Surgical Specialty

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required. Preferred stepdown/PCU experience and transplant experience.
License: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License.
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.
Must-Have:
- Acute care surgical floor experience is required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Some computer skills.
Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary.
Administers medication as prescribed.
Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
Delivers patient care competently.
Interacts with patients and families in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at discharge.
Informs patients and families of hospital procedures.
Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Delegates tasks to support staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a med/surg unit.
Must have acute care surgical floor experience.
The unit cares for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients.
It also cares for pre-transplant patients who are being evaluated for a transplant during their inpatient stay.
Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication delivery.
This position is not in a PACU setting.
The unit is a mix of medical-surgical and stepdown nursing.
Any nurse on this floor will either work medical-surgical or stepdown depending on nurse availability.
If short-staffed and ICU nurses are floated down, they will work with stepdown patients based on acuity and skill set.
Preceptor and charge experience are preferred.
