Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Cardiac/Tele, Trauma 1, and EPIC experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completing initial assessments upon patient admission and developing appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs is crucial. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care should be made based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers is expected. Conferencing with colleagues to expand knowledge is encouraged. Identifying own learning needs and taking initiative to begin appropriate solutions is necessary. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is required. Manage care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Collaboratively identify patient goals of care, design, and maintain care plans with patient and family. Implement interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects. Prepare patients for procedures, pain management, IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitor labs. Discharge patients and provide instructions for safe transitions from the hospital. Document all care using electronic medical records. Ensure team huddles are occurring. Evaluate patients regularly. Delegate responsibilities with appropriate follow-up. Answer call lights promptly. Ensure basic care, such as turning and toileting, is done per established standards. Manage conflicts effectively. Maintain professional communication with all team members.
