Key Responsibilities of the Med/Surg Registered Nurse

• Apply nursing knowledge and skills in the delivery of care
• Assess patient/family needs and develop individualized care plans
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to set goals and monitor progress
• Advocate for the health, safety, and rights of patients
• Educate and support patients and families to promote self-care post-discharge
• Evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice

Requirements of the Med/Surg Registered Nurse

• NYS RN Licensure
• BLS Certification
• ACLS (AHA only) Certification
• NIHSS Certification
• 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Med/Surg environment
