Job Title

Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse for an 8-week contract assignment in Woodsville, New Hampshire. This role involves providing high-acuity care to critically ill patients within a dynamic hospital environment.

The successful candidate will manage a diverse patient population presenting with complex conditions such as Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), Respiratory Distress, and Atrial Fibrillation (Afib). This position requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to adapt to fluctuating patient acuities, including the potential for floating to the Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) unit when ICU census is low.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Monitor, assess, and interpret patient conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and hemodynamic parameters.
  • Administer medications, manage intravenous lines, and operate specialized medical equipment relevant to critical care.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records.
  • Float to the Medical-Surgical unit as needed based on hospital census and staffing requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Ability to work on-site in Woodsville, New Hampshire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a Critical Care setting.
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) or Emergency Department (ED) nursing.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in critical care nursing practices, including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and administration of vasoactive medications.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage patients with complex diagnoses such as Sepsis, DKA, Respiratory Distress, and Afib.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to float to other units as required.
  • Competence in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
