Provide direct patient care on a 22-bed post-surgical orthopedic unit with a patient ratio of 1:5 with ancillary support
Care for patients recovering from procedures including joint reconstruction, hip and knee surgery, lumbar and cervical disc surgery, orthopedic spine surgery, and Tarlov/meningeal cyst removal
Operate and monitor unit equipment including PCA pumps, IV pumps, telemetry boxes, ice machines, and Welch Allyn vital sign machines
Document patient care accurately using Meditech EMR
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in a high-volume environment, particularly mid-week when census is heaviest
Float within the health system to telemetry and other units as needed based on census
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas or compact state eligibility
Current ACLS certification
Current BLS certification
Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience
Ability to commit to scheduled shifts; excessive time-off requests will not be accommodated
Preferred Experience / Skills
Orthopedic nursing experience
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or telemetry experience
Familiarity with Meditech EMR
