Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-Hour Shifts)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF population
- Perform clinical skills including remote telemetry monitoring, chest tube management, NG/PEG tube care, straight cath/Foley insertion, ostomy care, Heparin drip management, blood/blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
- Maintain strong patient assessment and critical thinking throughout each shift with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6–7 on nights
- Float within skillset to a secondary campus location as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours notice provided for cross-campus floats
- Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements (three weekends per six-week schedule; every other holiday)
- May precept nursing students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Current, active compact RN license required
- AHA BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent, strong Medical-Surgical experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and manage a high-acuity patient load with resilience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Experience precepting nursing students or new graduate nurses
