Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including AKI, CKD, ESRD, diabetes, COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, PVD/PAD, wound infections, and cellulitis
Support patients undergoing general surgical procedures such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement, and amputation
Monitor and manage patients requiring dialysis access, including clotted AV fistulas and peritoneal dialysis in coordination with the dialysis nurse
Utilize special equipment including remote telemetry monitoring, wound vacs, Pyxis, and EPIC
Float to other units as needed; agency staff are pulled first per facility policy
Be prepared to participate in an emergency response team and report as assigned by unit management in the event of an emergency
Required Qualifications
Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submittal
Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required; renal experience strongly preferred
ACLS certification required (AHA)
BLS certification required (AHA)
NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
Must live more than 65 miles from the facility (as measured from address on driver's license to facility address) to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience caring for renal patients requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
Familiarity with SBAR communication framework and EPIC electronic health records
Experience with central line care and dialysis access management
