Provide direct patient care on a medical-surgical unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, CAD, arrhythmias, COPD exacerbation, CHF, renal failure, GI bleed, MI, and related conditions, with potential for med-surg overflow (e.g., sepsis, CVA, COVID+)
Perform and assist with specialized procedures including pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, post-op CABG, post-op thoracotomy, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), and AAA repair
Titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and Heparin; perform bedside sheath pulling
Operate and monitor specialized equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
Be available for float to other inpatient units based on departmental needs
Participate in emergency response team duties as directed by unit manager during declared emergency events, which may include remaining on-site until the event resolves or serving on a relief team
Required Qualifications
Active Compact or Louisiana RN license — must be in hand at time of submittal
Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing
AHA certifications required
NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as shown on driver's license) to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac or medical-surgical setting
Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and hemodynamic drip titration
Experience with post-surgical and vascular patient populations
