Job Details

• Setting: Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Location: Midlothian, Virginia (Richmond area)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Coverage: Every other weekend and major holidays required
• Call: Possible up to 24 hours in 6 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Start Date: 8/3/2026

Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Prior NICU, pediatric, medical/surgical, OB, ED, or critical care nursing experience preferred
• BLS required; PALS preferred at hire and required within 6 months
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity neonatal intensive care environment
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Comfort with EPIC or similar electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
• Administer medications safely and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Support neonatal resuscitation, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring of high-risk infants
• Perform and assist with care involving bubble CPAP, ventilators, umbilical lines, PIVs, arterial sticks, peripheral blood draws, and heel sticks
• Educate and support families throughout the infant’s care journey
• Maintain a safe, compassionate, and patient-centered environment
• Float within the New Life Center or to other NICU areas as needed
