Description:
The position requires a registered nurse specializing in oncology.
The nurse will work in a primary oncology unit treating all types of cancer.
Responsibilities include the administration of inpatient chemotherapy regimens.
Care for uro-gyn and gyn-onc surgical populations will be provided, including post-operative care.
This unit also functions as a step-down neuro overflow for strokes, head bleeds, and other neurological needs.
Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required to meet organizational needs.
The nurse will manage IV therapy and infusions, including the administration of blood products and coagulation factors.
Care and management of ports and central lines will be essential.
The position involves symptom management for various oncologic emergencies.
The candidate should be skilled in psychosocial care, patient and family education, and support.
Experience in pain management, wound care, and telemetry interpretation is required.
The nurse will provide care for patients with various types of cancer, including but not limited to bladder, brain, breast, colorectal, kidney, leukemia, liver, lung, lymphoma, melanoma, and prostate cancers.
Chemotherapy administration knowledge is essential, along with the ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values.
The candidate must adhere to established safety precautions and isolation protocols.
