Join our dedicated team as a Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, New Hampshire. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients undergoing complex cardiac and interventional procedures within a dynamic procedural environment.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting medical staff, ensuring patient safety, and contributing to high-quality patient outcomes. You will utilize advanced clinical skills, including assisting with specialized device insertions and managing procedural sedation, while upholding the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional nursing care to patients within the Cardiac Cath Lab, supporting medical directives and hospital policies.
Complete all unit-specific competencies required for the care of critically ill patients.
Participate in quality improvement planning and processes for the area of practice.
Ensure comprehensive and timely completion of clinical documentation and care plans for all assigned patients.
Communicate patient information effectively through handoffs, walking rounds, and physician/provider interactions to ensure continuity and safe care.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by adhering to established procedures and protocols.
Implement and support initiatives designed to improve patient safety, working within a Just Culture Environment to promote error reporting.
Address issues and concerns through appropriate use of the chain of command.
Collaborate with Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) to complete hourly rounding on all assigned patients.
Identify and assist in the correction of patient care safety issues.
Collaborate with nurses in other departments/units to leverage expertise and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
Effectively delegate aspects of patient care and unit activities to other qualified nursing personnel.
Participate in the planning, supervision, and instruction of other nurses and assistants, including nursing students and instructors.
Participate in peer review processes and DNV survey readiness activities.
Assist with the insertion of specialized devices such as Flow wire, Opsens, and IVUS.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of contraindications and reversal protocols for IV adenosine infusion.
Safely administer procedural sedation and ensure accurate documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of critical care experience.
Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge or certification (to be obtained prior to completion of orientation).
NHISS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification (to be obtained prior to completion of orientation).
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (to be obtained prior to completion of orientation).
Graduate of an approved Nursing program.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in providing professional nursing care to critically ill patients.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Expertise in clinical documentation and care plan development.
Thorough understanding and application of patient safety protocols and quality improvement principles.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills for effective handoffs, team collaboration, and physician interaction.
Ability to delegate tasks effectively and supervise other nursing personnel.
Knowledge of current nursing practice standards (e.g., ANA, NH Nurse Practice Act, Specialty standards).
Competence in assisting with advanced cardiac procedural equipment (Flow wire, Opsens, IVUS).
Skill in managing and reversing IV adenosine infusions.
Proficiency in administering and documenting procedural sedation.
Ability to identify and correct patient care safety issues.
Strong teamwork and conflict resolution abilities.
