Travel RN – Operating Room / Surgery (Mid Shift)

Lake Charles, Louisiana
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Onsite | Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM | On-call required 1–2 times per week and every 3rd weekend (Friday–Sunday)
Key Responsibilities
Provide routine and complex perioperative nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients in the operating room setting.
Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
Assess patient and family learning needs; provide education and identify appropriate resources.
Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation effectively.
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in the state of employment or a valid compact RN license.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Ability to scrub and/or circulate across a broad range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, spine, general surgery, urology, podiatry, and hand surgery.
Willingness and ability to float between two OR campuses as needed.
Ability to fulfill on-call requirements: 1–2 times per week and every 3rd weekend.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an operating room or surgical nursing specialty.
Experience with robotic-assisted surgery, Mako total joint procedures, or complex spine/cranial cases is a plus.
Familiarity with ENT, gynecology, or pediatric surgical cases beneficial for float campus coverage.
