Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general surgery and be proficient in circulating within the operating room. This position is integral to ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile prior to surgery.
• Assist with positioning and draping of patients before surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients' vital signs during surgeries and report any issues to the surgical team.
• Maintain a clean and organized surgical environment throughout the procedure.
• Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.

Schedule

The position requires availability for the following shifts:

• Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (32 hours per week, with additional hours from call)
• 1 weekend per month (Friday to Monday) and holidays as required

On-Call Duties

Must be available for on-call duties, covering approximately 10 shifts a month, which includes one weekend. On-call hours extend from 3:30 PM until 7:00 AM the following day, Monday through Thursday.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of current experience as an RN in the Operating Room, specifically as a circulator with strong orthopedic experience.
• 3 months of travel experience (or more) is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Must possess a valid nursing license in Vermont or a compact state.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Must have a reliable vehicle for transportation.
