Job Requirements

• Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience
• At least 1 completed travel assignment
• BLS certification required
• Experience with Cerner preferred/required
• Experience as a nurse navigator or nurse coordinator preferred
• Oncology nursing or radiation oncology experience is a strong plus
• Ability to thrive in a clinic-based, patient-focused environment
• Strong communication, organization, and care coordination skills
• Flu vaccine required

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Nurse Navigator supporting patients throughout their radiation therapy visits
• Provide patient education, skincare and wound care support, and assessment of radiation-related toxicity
• Perform telephone triage and coordinate patient care needs with the appropriate clinical team members
• Manage chart preparation, disability forms, and pharmacy calls
• Start and maintain IVs for adult patients as needed
• Support care management for ports and central lines, including implanted line care
• Monitor and respond to symptoms and complications such as nausea/vomiting, neutropenic precautions, sepsis concerns, hemorrhage, anaphylaxis, and altered mental status
• Assist with wound care, tracheostomy care/management, and other outpatient clinic nursing needs
• Promote smooth patient flow and compassionate care in a busy outpatient radiation treatment center
