Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Position Overview

The PCU requires a skilled Registered Nurse with considerable experience in a fast-paced, intensive care environment. This role involves treating patients who have transitioned from ICU settings and requires expertise in various monitoring and management protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage patient care within a stepdown unit with target ratios of 1:3-4.
• Work collaboratively with Rapid Response Teams for patient assessments and interventions.
• Administer and monitor arterial lines, vasoactive drips, conscious sedation, and blood product transfusions.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and effectively interpret dysrhythmias.
• Utilize protocols for insulin administration, central line care, and hemodynamic management.
• Manage respiratory interventions including BIPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula.
• Document patient care and outcomes using electronic health record systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience required.
• First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome.
• Required certifications include ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS, in addition to experience with IV placements and telemetry.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.

Schedule & Availability

• Day shifts available as 3x12-hour shifts.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Floating to sister units may be necessary as required.

Special Procedures & Equipment

• Handle a maximum of one pressor drip per patient; additional drips will require transfer to ICU.
• Experience with bedside telemetry monitors; ability to recognize and respond to dysrhythmias is essential.
• Familiarity with advanced respiratory support equipment, chest tube care, and tracheostomy management.

Dress Code

Scrubs should be navy, white, or a combination of both.

Notes

• Orientation during the first week is mandatory; attendance at daily classes is required.
• This position does not allow for RTO after booking, with a maximum RTO of 7 days for auto offers.
