Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg/PCU/Tele

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a dynamic position in a Neuro Trauma Stepdown Unit. This role requires a strong clinical background and the ability to provide excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will work on a designated unit, focusing on patients with neuro trauma and various acute conditions. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality care, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients with neuro-focused diagnoses, including strokes, seizures, and spinal injuries.
• Manage patients on telemetry and ensure accurate monitoring of vital signs.
• Administer medications and titrate intravenous drips as required, including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
• Use evidence-based practices to monitor patient progress and outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
• Supervise and mentor nursing aides and support staff as necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg, PCU, or ICU settings.
• Active BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certification required.
• Experience with trachs and vents is essential; willingness to learn is appreciated.
• Ability to read telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient conditions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Working Schedule

This position requires 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend and holiday. Self-scheduling is available, managed by the nursing leadership to ensure adequate coverage and balance.

Unit Details

• Unit Capacity: 28 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: Day shift 1:4-5; Night shift 1:5-6, depending on acuity
• Available support equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, and BiPAP.
• Orientation includes one shift of general orientation and one shift with a preceptor.

Additional Information

Floating may occur to sister units with various specialties as patient care demands change. Scrub colors are flexible, with any solid color acceptable.
