Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Cardiology License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience Comfort with titrating medications such as Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, Sotalol, Tirofiban Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. This unit has 28 beds with an average census of 26 patients. Common patient diagnoses include Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, and chest pain evaluation. Post-procedural care includes managing patients after cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, and ablations. The RN to patient ratio is 1:4-5. There is support from a Certified Nursing Assistant who assists with vital signs, blood glucose checks, and safety rounds. Telemetry monitoring is provided, with nurses responsible for verifying strips once per shift. Clientists and intensivists are available 24/7 for additional support. The unit fosters a family atmosphere with an emphasis on teamwork. Royal blue scrubs are required for staff members.
