Must-Have:
Swanz and Impella experience required
Experience with heavy cardiac patients and post-surgical care
Familiarity with wound care and dressing changes
Ability to manage and pull sheaths, use bipap/cpap/hi-flow, and care for chest tubes, trachs, and arterial lines
Experience administering all types of drips, including pressors, cardiac drips, and sedation
Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit.
The unit will initially operate as a high acuity PCU and transition to an ICU by the end of the year.
The facility has 10-12 beds.
Patient types include those with heavy cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and post-operative care from heart surgeries.
Patient ratios will be 1:3-4 initially, transitioning to 1:2-3 once the unit becomes an ICU.
The nurse will care for various cardiac patients, including those on mechanical devices.
Although ECMO experience is not required, familiarity with IABP is preferred after the transition to ICU.
There will be support within the department from nursing assistants and a resource charge nurse.
The nursing team will have access to 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist services.
This role requires general nursing skills, ICU skills, and experience managing patients with the outlined conditions.
Candidates should be adaptable, as they may float to other units within their scope of practice.
Scrub color will be royal blue.
