Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $1,912 per week in Winston Salem, NC

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: - Strong drip experience - Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips - Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown - Telemetry skills and dysrhythmia management - Management of IV insulin protocols and blood product administration - Central line and peripheral line care/management - Management of chest tubes and tracheostomy care Description: This unit runs more like an ICU. Travelers are accepted with prior experience. Local candidates may be considered with a rate difference. Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring telemetry. There will be a requirement to float to a sister unit as needed. Every other weekend shift is required. Patient diagnoses include respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, and post-operative care. Only one pressor drip per patient is allowed; additional drips will require transfer to ICU. Special equipment includes bedside telemetry monitors, BIPAPs, and chest tubes. Nurses must be proficient in recognizing and treating dysrhythmias. The unit utilizes specific vasoactive drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Levophed. Staff will work in an interdisciplinary environment with support from various teams. All necessary training modules must be completed prior to starting.
