Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $1,951 per week in Winston Salem, NC

Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation. The unit will accept first-time travelers. Locals are accepted with a rate difference. Target ratios are 1:4-5 with mixed acuity patients. In extreme situations, the unit may have a 1:6 ratio. The unit may accept contracts for 13 to 26 weeks. The unit operates with a team lead present. There are two respiratory therapists rounding on the unit. An assistant nurse manager is also available on shift, including weekends. The patient population primarily includes COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, and patients with chest tubes, CPAP, and BiPAP. Care for COVID-19 patients is included. Resource teams on the unit include an admission/discharge nurse, a vascular access team, rapid response team, and code team. The unit manages ventilators for chronic trach/vent patients. No nurse has more than one ventilator patient at a time. The unit has a total of 48 beds. The CNA to patient ratio is 9-10:1. Patients monitored include those with telemetry needs and various comorbidities. The unit utilizes systems including Pyxis and EPIC for charting. Scrubs are not provided; white or navy blue scrubs are required. High acuity medical-surgical patients are common, with occasional PCU patients. A teamwork approach is essential, and adherence to call-off policy is strongly enforced.
