Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required. Assignment length 13-26 weeks available. Up to 7 days pre-approved time off (no holidays).
Highlights:
48-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with mixed acuity including PCU and Med/Surg Telemetry patients
Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:4-5, with 1:6 in extreme situations; enhanced support team includes Admission/Discharge Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, RRT, Code Team, and Vascular Access Team
Patient population includes COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, chest tubes, ventilators (chronic trach/vent patients), BiPAP/CPAP management, and telemetry monitoring
Epic EMR, Pyxis medication management, SBAR communication system
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, IV Teams, Pharmacy, and Behavioral Health Team
24 hours of orientation with EKG competency testing prior to start
Requirements:
Current North Carolina or Compact state RN license
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
Experience with IV starts, ventilators, telemetry, BiPAP/CPAP, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Experience managing 1:6 patient ratios
