Description:
The unit's primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients.
This encompasses open heart surgeries, thoracic lung surgeries, and various vascular interventions.
Overflow medical cardiology patients may also be admitted, including those with heart failure and chest pain.
The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds and approximately 100 staff members.
Day and night shifts have a charge RN, multiple RNs, and patient care technicians.
The patient-to-RN ratio is 1:5, and for patient care technicians, it is 1:13.
The unit utilizes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts.
Electronic medical records are managed through a specific system.
The ideal candidates will possess stepdown and telemetry experience.
Experience with cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients is preferred.
Candidates should be team players who enjoy a fast-paced environment and demonstrate flexibility.
Floating may occur to other stepdown or medical surgical units.
Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts every 6-week scheduling period.
Candidates should be flexible to work holidays as needed.
