Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,003 per week in Asheville, NC

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45-19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Nurse Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Stepdown experience - Telemetry experience Description: The primary patient population includes cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients. This may involve open heart surgeries and thoracic lung surgeries. Surgical procedures such as esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, and bypass surgeries are common. Patients with heart failure, chest pain, and sepsis are also cared for in the unit. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds with approximately 100 staff members. Staffing typically includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and patient care technicians. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for patient care technicians. Equipment used in the unit includes IV pumps and other specialized devices. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Candidates with prior experience in cardiovascular and vascular surgery populations will be prioritized. Typical procedures performed include epidural management and chest tube management. Cardiac medication management is also a significant responsibility. Ideal candidates should be team players and enjoy a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is essential for this role. Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts over a 6-week period. No call responsibilities are associated with this position.
