Start Date: ASAP Location: Anchorage, Alaska Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 3x12 Night Shift, 36 hours per week with guaranteed 60 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Assignment Details:
13-week contract with potential to extend
Weekend coverage required based on staffing needs
Float required to lower acuity units including renal care, neurology, and medical-surgical as needed
No on-call requirement
Must be available to work 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

Unit Overview:
Progressive Care Unit serving as stepdown from ICU with diverse patient populations across multiple disciplines
Innovative Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model with bedside RN, virtual RN, and CNA support for each patient
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on all shifts
36-bed unit with average daily census of 36 patients
Epic charting system with 12 hours of orientation provided
Magnet-designated facility, Level II Trauma Center, recognized as best hospital in Alaska by U.S. News & World Report
Patient Population:
30% cardiac patients including CHF, MI, post-TAVR, valve replacement, pacemaker management, arrhythmias, drug loading, and ACS
Respiratory patients with COVID, influenza, COPD/asthma exacerbations, tracheostomy care, chronic ventilator needs, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP management
Overflow neurology and renal patients
Complex medical-surgical patients requiring enhanced monitoring including alcohol withdrawal and GI bleeds
Adult and geriatric population
Requirements:
Current Alaska RN license (or compact license with ability to obtain Alaska license within 48 hours of offer acceptance)
Minimum 1 year of progressive care, stepdown, or telemetry nursing experience
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Experience with 1:4 patient ratios
Epic charting experience required
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
Clean background check (facility does not accept Nursys or background hits)
2 professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Cardiac telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
Management and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
Blood product administration and central line management
Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and wound care/wound vac
Experience with post-cardiac procedures (cath, angiogram, cardiac surgery, TAVR)
Ventilator management including high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP
Heparin and IV insulin protocols
ABG interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring
