Job Title: IMC/Tele RN - Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: IMC/Tele RN - Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours, 0700-1930 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Minimum 2 years recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment. Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients. Management of TR band compression devices and chest pain management. Experience with post-cardiac surgical patients. Description: Department: 3N MS/IMC RN This unit has 29 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 on days until 2300; 1:5-6 on nights after 2300. Common diagnoses and types of patients include cardiac medical and surgical cases, such as post-catheterization (stent, pacemaker, ICD, watchman, mitral clip, TAVR) and post-cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, bradycardia with temporary pacemaker). RNs are required to titrate drips; however, there are no vasopressors. Common titratable and/or set rate drips include nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and dobutamine. There is a 24/7 central telemetry unit that monitors all non-critical care patients. The charge RN takes a modified assignment and there are nurse aides on the unit. The aide-to-patient ratios are 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on PMs, and 1:15 at night. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 to assist with nebulizers and inhalers. RNs are responsible for incentive spirometry, while respiratory therapy will assist with CPAP, BiPAP, and vapotherm (high flow). Shifts are scheduled based on unit needs, with no self-scheduling. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, with holiday requirements also every other. There is no on-call or standby requirement unless for extra shifts. Floating is required as needed based on unit census. Scrubs are not provided, and there is no specific scrub color mandated. All clinicians must clock in and out during their shifts. The charting system used is Cerner.
