Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Behavioral Health – North Carolina

Schedule: Night Shift (18:45 - 07:15), Weekend Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday. 36-48 hours available. 13-week contract. No call required.

Highlights:

• Inpatient behavioral health unit serving adults and geriatric populations with all mental health diagnoses
• 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio with interdisciplinary support including psych techs, therapy teams, and 24/7 virtual clinical nursing support
• EPIC charting system and Pyxis medication administration; ObservSmart patient monitoring technology
• Locked unit experience with comprehensive de-escalation, crisis intervention, and behavioral management protocols
• Unit spans two floors with rotation between varied acuity levels; first-time travelers accepted
• 32 hours of orientation with hospital and unit-specific training provided

Requirements:

• Active NC or Compact RN license (pending acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience required
• BLS and MOAB (or CPI) certification required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Experience with locked units, substance use/chemical dependency, psychotic disorders, trauma-related disorders, and behavioral crisis management
• Proficiency in medication administration (antipsychotics, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anxiolytics), de-escalation techniques, managing assaultive behavior, physical hold protocols, and seclusion procedures
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Ability to float to task in medical-surgical units when needed
