About the Position

Emergency Psych RN - Day

Location: Lewiston, ME

Start Date: 04-20-2026

End Date: 07-20-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Varies (scheduled days), 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 12-hour day shifts (may include weekend coverage as scheduled)

Hours per Week: 36

Requirements

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process to ensure safe, respectful treatment
  • Develop and periodically update individualized interdisciplinary care plans that reflect patient goals
  • Perform thorough patient assessments and evaluations, documenting progress and outcomes
  • Respond to psychiatric crises and apply crisis management and de-escalation techniques
  • Coordinate with physicians, social workers, and other team members for seamless, integrated care
  • Support detoxification needs when indicated and monitor patients for medical comorbidities
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and resources to promote recovery
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to facility policies and best practices

Qualifications

  • Valid State of Maine RN license required
  • Associate degree in Nursing (2-year) required
  • BLS certification required prior to start
  • Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required before start
  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience in mental health/psychiatric nursing
  • Comfort caring for patients ages 5 and up in a crisis psychiatric setting
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage stress, make sound decisions under pressure, and be an excellent team player
  • Flexibility to provide coverage as needed 24/7
