Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health - Mental Health Duration: Full Time Positions Available Shift: Varied Hours per Shift: 12-hour and 8-hour shifts available Experience: Preferred: previous clinical experience; New graduates may be considered with psychiatric or emergency department experience License: Licensed to practice in the state of Michigan Certifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred; professional knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory required Must-Have: Ability to provide culturally inclusive care with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community setting Ability to work in a potentially adverse environment Analytical skills necessary to collect, analyze, and interpret complex patient data Description: The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as the basis for patient care. RNs provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Demonstrates compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and promotion of diversity and professional excellence. Assesses individuals' care needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Continually reassesses the plan of care according to individuals' needs. Collaborates with the physician to provide and coordinate nursing care to individuals and groups. Assists in teaching families and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates families and significant others in discharge and aftercare planning needs. Provides a safe and secure environment for individuals and staff in both individual and group settings. Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors for and reports to the physician any potential risks to individuals' safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. Creates a friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with coworkers and external customers. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Identifies specific individuals' needs and implements person-centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader by delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Provides input into processes for improvement and may be responsible for training direct care staff. May indirectly oversee medication and physical health activities within a program. May also be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. Role models the mission and values of the organization through professional appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In a community residential setting, supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment. Responsible for upholding the healing ministry through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and diversity. Maintains annual training and demonstrates competency in required training. Performs other duties as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
